Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Rachel Fending, M.A., LMFT
At the core of my approach to therapy is the belief that as humans we are all flawed and imperfect. In our work together, Iaccept and respect my clients just as they are, while helping them grow into who they want to become. My goal is for you to end each session feeling supported, knowing that no matter what you’re walking through, you have a partner in the journey. And, as my kids will tell you (with the obligatory teenage eye roll), nothing is too embarrassing or taboo for me to talk about comfortably.
As a marriage and family therapist, I work with couples, families, and individuals to create the life and relationships they want. I can help you improve communication, connection, and conflict resolution; heal your relationship after infidelity; handle difficult parenting situations; and improve sexual intimacy. If you’re not sure what’s next for your relationship, I can help you take an honest look at what change is possible, and to separate as peacefully as possible if that’s what you decide. I work with families coping with addiction and/or mental illness, parents and children who want to strengthen their relationship, and separated partners navigating divorce and coparenting. I am knowledgeable about and supportive of LGBTQIA+ relationships and identities, polyamory, and other types of consensual nonmonogamy.
I came to marriage and family therapy as a second career, after spending 20 years in academic publishing and raising my two children, who are now 18 and 15. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Medaille College.
