Limited Permit Marriage and Family Therapist
Rachel Fending, M.A., LPMFT
At the core of my approach to therapy is the belief that as humans we are all flawed and imperfect. In our work together, I accept and respect my clients just as they are, while helping them grow into who they want to become. My goal is for you to end each session feeling supported, knowing that no matter what you’re walking through, you have a partner in the journey. And, as my kids will tell you (with the obligatory teenage eye roll), nothing is too embarrassing or taboo for me to talk about comfortably.
I work with both couples and individuals on issues such as conflict resolution, communication, infidelity, intimacy and sexual dysfunction, self-esteem, and healing after breakups. I also have a special focus on polyamorous relationships and consensual non-monogamy, and I am kink- informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming.
I came to marriage and family therapy as a second career, after spending 20 years in academic publishing and raising my two children, who are now 15 and 13. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Medaille College, and as a Limited Permit Marriage and Family Therapist, I am accumulating the supervised hours I need in order to obtain my license.
